Privacy Policy

ThinkQuest Kids is an Australian educational service based in Victoria, Australia. We provide story-led learning activities designed to help children aged 7–12 develop logic, problem-solving and computational thinking skills.

We respect the privacy of families who use ThinkQuest Kids and aim to collect only the information reasonably needed to provide, secure and improve the service.

ThinkQuest Kids is designed to be managed through a parent or guardian account.

Under the current first-profile creation flow, before a new parent account creates its first child profile, the authenticated parent or guardian is shown a Parent or Guardian Consent notice explaining the limited child profile and learning information that ThinkQuest Kids will store.

The parent or guardian must affirm that they are the parent or legal guardian and consent to ThinkQuest Kids collecting and using that information to provide the learning service before the first child profile can be created.

We keep an account-level record of this consent, which may include:

• the purpose of the consent;
• the applicable consent version;
• the Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Notice versions;
• a reference to the wording shown;
• consent status;
• confirmation method;
• source page; and
• the date and time the consent was recorded.

These records help us demonstrate what information and notices applied when consent was given.

This consent process should not be interpreted as a claim that ThinkQuest Kids has obtained any particular form of legally defined identity verification or certification unless we expressly state otherwise.

The current ThinkQuest Kids child-profile flow does not ask children to provide their:

• full name;
• exact date of birth;
• personal email address;
• phone number;
• school;
• photograph;
• precise location;
• social-media details; or
• open-ended personal profile information.

Older or legacy data structures may contain fields that are no longer requested through the current active profile flow.

We may use information to:

• create and manage parent accounts;
• provide and maintain child profiles;
• save learning progress;
• personalise age-appropriate learning experiences;
• operate puzzles, missions, rewards and progress features;
• provide parent dashboards and learning insights;
• provide downloadable resources or Mini Packs;
• record parent acknowledgements and consent;
• maintain security and prevent misuse;
• provide customer support;
• troubleshoot technical problems;
• improve ThinkQuest Kids;
• send parent-facing service messages;
• send marketing communications to parents where permitted; and
• comply with legal obligations.

Marketing communications are directed to parents and guardians, not children.

Where required, we ask parents or guardians for permission before sending marketing communications.

Parents can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link provided in those communications.

We do not use child-profile information for targeted advertising.

We use service providers to help operate ThinkQuest Kids, including services for:

• hosting and application infrastructure;
• authentication;
• cloud data storage;
• email delivery;
• customer relationship management;
• security and operational logging;
• support; and
• media and application assets.

These providers may process information only as reasonably necessary to provide their services to us.

We do not sell children's personal information.

Child profiles and learning progress are stored using cloud-based application and backend services.

Some of our technology or service providers may process or store information outside Australia.

The exact infrastructure provider, processing country or storage region may not always be visible to ThinkQuest Kids where those services are provided through managed technology platforms.

We will update our disclosures where more specific information becomes reasonably available and where required.

ThinkQuest Kids is designed for children aged 7–12 under the management of a parent or guardian.

We use a privacy-minimised child-profile design and do not provide:

• public child profiles;
• child-to-child messaging;
• public posting by children; or
• targeted advertising based on child-profile information.

Parents and guardians control the family account and child profiles.

ThinkQuest Kids may use cookies, browser local storage and similar technologies where needed for:

• authentication;
• account and session continuity;
• remembering selected profiles;
• app preferences;
• onboarding and display state;
• security; and
• normal service operation.

Some information stored locally in the browser may be removed when browser storage or private browsing sessions are cleared.

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including providing the service, maintaining security, resolving disputes and complying with legal obligations.

Learning and child-profile information may be retained while the relevant parent account or child profile remains active.

When a child profile is deleted through the supported deletion process, associated active learning records are intended to be removed in accordance with that process.

Limited records relating to security, consent, legal acknowledgements, support, deletion operations or backups may remain for a reasonable period where needed for legitimate operational or legal purposes.

Parents and guardians can manage their child's profile through the parent area of ThinkQuest Kids.

Depending on available account features, parents may:

• review or change profile information;
• manage profile settings; and
• request or initiate deletion of a child profile.

Parents can also contact us with privacy questions or requests concerning their child's information.

We use technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, loss or misuse.

No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to collect limited information and use access controls and security measures appropriate to the service.

Parents and guardians may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with their account or child profile, subject to applicable legal and security requirements.

ThinkQuest Kids is operated from Australia and may be accessed by families in other countries.

Where local privacy or consumer laws provide mandatory rights that cannot legally be excluded, those rights continue to apply.

Additional notices or consent mechanisms may be introduced for particular countries or regions where required.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we make material changes, we may update the date at the top of this policy and provide additional notice where reasonably appropriate.

Where a material change requires new parental consent under applicable law or our service design, we will provide an appropriate consent process.
